Paisley Park Early Learning Centres

1. Purpose

1.1 This Privacy Policy (Policy) applies to Paisley Park Early Learning Centres and its related bodies and centres (together, “Paisley Park”, “we”, “us” or “our”) and explains how we manage personal information.

1.2 We are committed to protecting personal information in accordance with applicable privacy law, including the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Act), in the course of providing our early learning and child care services.

1.3 This Policy may apply to you if you are:

  (a) a current or former parent, guardian or carer of a child enrolled at, or waitlisted for, one of our centres;

  (b) a child enrolled in or attending one of our services;

  (c) a visitor to our website or a participant in one of our promotions, surveys or marketing initiatives;

  (d) a supplier, contractor, volunteer or other person engaging with our business; or

  (e) an applicant for employment with us.

1.4 We may update this Policy from time to time by publishing the revised version on our website. We encourage you to review it periodically. Your continued use of our services or website, or your continued provision of personal information to us, is deemed acceptance of the current Policy.

2. Children

If you are a parent, guardian or carer of a child enrolling with, waitlisted for, or attending Paisley Park, you consent on behalf of your child to our collection, use, storage and disclosure of your child’s personal information in accordance with this Policy and any enrolment agreement between us.

3. What personal information do we collect?

3.1 Personal information is information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether true or not.

3.2 Depending on your relationship with us, we may collect:

  (a) Identity and contact information – name, date of birth, gender, residential and postal address, phone number, email address, and emergency contact details;

  (b) Enrolment and family information – enrolment history, attendance records, custody arrangements or parenting orders, nominated emergency contacts, and details of your occupation;

  (c) Financial information – bank account, credit or debit card details, and government identifiers relevant to child care subsidy or fee assistance (such as Centrelink or Medicare reference numbers);

  (d) Health and sensitive information – immunisation status, dietary requirements, allergies, medical conditions, developmental information, additional support needs, and relevant medical or specialist reports;

  (e) Photographs, videos and work samples of children, taken as part of our events, educational programs and centre communications;

  (f) Employment information – for job applicants, this may include work history, qualifications, references, proof of identity, right-to-work status, and (where required for a role) a criminal history check; and

  (g) Website and technical information – as described in section 6 below.

3.3 Sensitive information includes information about an individual’s racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, health, disability, or criminal record. We will seek your consent before collecting sensitive information, unless we are required or permitted by law to collect it without consent.

4. How we collect personal information

4.1 We usually collect personal information directly from you. For example, when you enquire about childcare or enrol your child, complete a form, visit one of our centres, email or call us, apply for a job, or interact with our website.

4.2 We may also collect personal information from third parties, such as another parent or guardian, a referee, a recruitment agency, a government department, or publicly available sources, where reasonably necessary.

4.3 If you choose not to provide requested personal information, we may not be able to enrol your child, provide our services, process a job application, or respond to your enquiry.

5. How we use and disclose personal information

5.1 We collect, use and disclose personal information to:

  (a) provide early education and child care services, including your child’s safety, wellbeing and development;

  (b) administer enrolments, attendance, billing and child care subsidy claims;

  (c) communicate with you about your child, our centres, and relevant programs or events;

  (d) meet our regulatory and mandatory reporting obligations under child care and education law;

  (e) assess job applications and manage our relationships with contractors and suppliers;

  (f) improve our services, website and operations, including through analytics and feedback; and

  (g) with your consent, send you marketing communications, which you may opt out of at any time.

5.2 We may disclose personal information to:

  (a) our related entities and centre staff who need the information to provide our services;

  (b) government and regulatory bodies (for example, in connection with child care subsidy, licensing, or mandatory reporting obligations);

  (c) service providers who support our operations, such as IT, payment processing, and communications providers;

  (d) professional advisers, including lawyers and accountants;

  (e) emergency services or health professionals where necessary for a child’s safety or wellbeing; and

  (f) any other party you have authorised, or where required or permitted by law.

5.3 We do not sell personal information to third parties.

6. Our website and online collection

6.1 We may use analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to understand how visitors use our website, including IP address, device and browser information, and pages visited. This information helps us improve the website and does not identify you personally.

6.2 Our website may use cookies to remember your preferences and improve your browsing experience. You can disable cookies in your browser, though parts of the website may not function as intended.

6.3 If you sign up to a mailing list, submit an enquiry form, or provide feedback through our website, we will collect the information you provide for the purpose of responding to you or, with your consent, for marketing purposes.

7. Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers (for example, cloud storage or IT providers) may store or process personal information outside Australia. Where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled in a manner consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

9.2 We will respond to requests within a reasonable time, generally within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first, and in some circumstances a reasonable fee may apply.

10.1 If you have a concern about how we have handled personal information, please contact us using the details below. We will investigate and aim to respond within 30 days.

10.2 If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
