As parents ourselves, we know that the safety and wellbeing of your child is the most important thing for you as a parent when considering childcare options. We never take for granted the trust you place in us when enrolling your child and take our responsibility for child safety and wellbeing extremely seriously.

We have policies and practices in place that are carefully monitored and continuously improved so that our Centres are safe and clean environments for our children.

Physical Security

Paisley Park is a Child Safe Organisation. This means that child safety is embedded throughout everything we do, including physical security. Our experienced team has been building early learning centres for two decades and security has always been a central part of our Centre designs, such as:

CCTV Cameras: Allows child safety to be constantly monitored throughout the Centre

Open Plan Designs: When designing or refurbishing a centre we create open sight lines to ensure visibility through and throughout the Centre
Biometric Security: Access to most of our Centres is via biometric fingerprint scanners for family and staff access so that only authorised persons can access the Centre without being let in by a member of staff

Centre Hygiene

We understand the importance of cleanliness in providing a safe environment for our children.

Each of our Centres is professionally cleaned outside of opening hours. Throughout the day, our Educators maintain your child’s learning spaces to the highest standards of cleanliness, maximising their health, safety and wellbeing.

Emergency Drills

Each of our Centres undertakes regular evacuation and lockdown drills. This means Educators and children are familiar with the safety procedures and know what to do, and where to go in case of an incident involving fire or another emergency.

The emergency evacuation procedure includes a detailed roll-call against Centre sign-in/out records for the day. For this reason our Centre Directors are very strict about families and visitors signing-in and signing-out at our Centres.

Educator Recruitment & Training

We are selective and thorough in our recruitment practices, to be sure that our Educators have appropriate experience and qualifications.

Ongoing training and professional development of our Educators is an important priority for us, including specific safety and hygiene training.

Our approach encompasses various areas of focus, such as:

First Aid & Working With Children Checks: Our Educators are required to hold a current First Aid Certificate and Working With Children Check
Food & Chemical Safety: Educators and Kitchen staff receive training from our Executive Chef in food and chemical safety
Child Safety Training & Mandatory Reporting: Training is provided on identifying child safety risks and how to report concerns or issues
Communities of Practice: Educators and Kitchen staff participate in learning and mentoring sessions throughout the month for the purpose of continuous improvement and sharing best practice

Body Safety Education

Children receive age-appropriate Body Safety and Body Autonomy education. This teaches children they are the boss of their body, using correct names for private parts, understanding personal boundaries, respecting others’ bodies, and knowing their right to say “No” to unwanted touch.

These sessions teach children how to identify and communicate with trusted adults about any uncomfortable feelings or situations, often through simple “rules”, stories, and role-playing to build confidence and prevent abuse.

Hygiene & Physical Safety Education

Children also receive important safety education from their Educators and through visits from safety experts, such as:

Fire Safety: Local fire brigade visits teach children about fire safety and what to do in a fire emergency
Police: Local police officers teach children about the role of police in the community and how to recognise safe adults if they need help
Water Safety: Visits from experts in early childhood water safety teach children the do’s and don’ts of being around water
Handwashing: Children learn correct handwashing techniques to stop the spread of infections and germs
Road Safety: Children learn about road safety rules and how to cross the road safely
