This recipe is a delicious and healthy addition as a side dish to your favourite wintry meals
Ingredients
- Fresh brussel sprouts: In general, the smaller they are, the sweeter they’ll be. The larger, the more they will taste like cabbage
- Olive oil: Or your preferred cooking oil
- Sea salt and freshly-cracked black pepper: We’ll use these generously for seasoning!
Steps
- Preheat oven to 180°C
- Cut brussel sprouts in half and toss with oil – either in a mixing bowl or oven tray
- Spread the brussel sprouts out in an even layer on your oven tray and season with salt and pepper
- Flip over each one so they are cut-side-down. If any of the leaves come loose, don’t worry — just tuck them in around the sprouts
- Put them in the oven and cook until browned on the bottom, and any of the loose leaves are crispy (approximately 25-30 minutes)
- Remove from the oven and give them a final taste-test. Add more salt and pepper if needed
- Serve warm and enjoy!
You can also try adding some extra flavour with your favourite dry spice, a squeeze of citrus juice or a sprinkling of your favourite cheese, grated finely.
